Frances Wynell Maloney, beloved wife and mother passed away on February 23, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on April 7, 1945, in Archer City, Texas. Frances grew up in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Frances graduated with a Master of Education degree from East Central University. Frances Wynell Vaughn married Lawrence Walter Maloney on August 8, 1968. They had two daughters, Christian Anne (Maloney) Windell and Cheryl Lynn (Maloney) Scott. In 2001, Frances retired from teaching at Oakridge Elementary School in the Oklahoma City Public Schools after 34.5 years. Frances also worked at Remington Park for over 20 years. Frances was a long-time member at the Del City Church of Christ and was a member at the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond for the past 25 years. She loved tending her flower beds, maintaining an immaculate lawn, and reviving sick house plants (usually for her daughter, Cheryl). She was the ringleader for a group of retired teacher friends that met bimonthly for lunch to fellowship and share important details of their lives.
She will be missed because of her Christian example, strength, dry sense of humor, devotion to her family and friends, and her love of Diet Coke.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, parents Samual Albert and Nona Lee Vaughn, and sisters Gypsy Shores and Evelyn Woolsey.
Frances is survived by daughter Christian Windell and husband Robert of East Peoria, Illinois, and daughter Cheryl Scott and husband Bill of Newcastle, Oklahoma. She was the grandmother to Riley, Caitlyn, Brodie, Hannah, and Abbie.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at www.omrf.org.
