

Frank Bobby Davenport, the youngest of 6 children, was born on October 30, 1953 to Junius Davenport and Louise Sawyer in Newark, NJ. He departed this life on October 11, 2023 at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
Frank received his education in Newark, New Jersey and graduated with the class of 1972. Shortly after graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. His duties were fuel specialist, air traffic controller and visual info productions – DOC technician. During his 20 years of service he served at 9 bases in 11 years. He is also a Desert Storm Veteran. Frank retired from the Air Force in 1992. In his civilian life he worked for the Department of Public Safety as a Driver License Examiner and later worked at the Oklahoma Historical Society as a Library Technician and Genealogist which ended up being a great joy. Frank retired from the state.
He married Evelyn Sanders in 1984. From that union they had a daughter ShaLana Denise Davenport. Later in life, after retiring from the Air Force in Oklahoma City, he met the love of his life, Gladys in 2000 they were married August 12, 2007 and have spent the last 23 years together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Junius Davenport and Louise Sawyer, and a sister Isabela. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Gladys, his daughters, ShaLana Davenport of Del City Oklahoma; two step daughters, Kristie Lewis of MWC, and Kendra Bennett of OKC, two brothers, Willie Gainer (Haydee) of Pleasantville NJ, Junius Davenport (Brenda) of Wicomico VA, 3 sisters; Mary Bookman of Union NJ, Helen Gilliam of Windsor NC and Florine Outlaw (John) of Merry Hill NC. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other caregivers at the VA Hospital, OKC as well as Sunny Lane Funeral Home. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown during this time of bereavement.
A visitation for Frank will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunny Lane Funeral Home, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunny Lane Funeral Home.
