

April 6, 1924 - January 14, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Henry Wilburn Davis, 87, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his home in Oklahoma City. He was born April 6, 1924 in Bennington, Oklahoma, to James Jones and Althy May Davis. Henry lived in the Oklahoma City area for the past 58 years. He wore many hats during his lifetime, that of rodeo bronco rider, farmer, cattle rancher, avid hunter and building contractor. He always looked forward with great anticipation to his annual deer hunt in Colorado with his friends. He broke horses in his younger days and built homes for his career, owning his own company, Davis Construction. His grandchildren knew him as a great story teller regaling them with stories of the "olden days." He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karin Southern; sisters, Lillie Clark and husband, Walter, Agnes Davis, and Mary Weaver; and brother-in-law, Charlie Rice. Survivors include his wife of over 66 years, Emma; son, David P. Davis; daughters, Bettie Palmer and husband, Carroll, and Roma McCormack and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Tashonda Dixon and Carissa and Ryan Southern; great grandchildren, Cain, Kylie and Chloe Southern and Cullen Phillips; brothers, Thomas and wife Diane and Jessie Davis; and sisters, Margie Edwards and husband, Junior, Francis Rice, Jimmie Banks and husband, Junior, Linda Vansickle and husband, Harold, and Mabel Stewart. Memorial donations to the Brain Injury Association of Oklahoma (1-800-444-6443) or the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Henry's funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Sunny Lane Chapel with interment following at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
