He was raised in St. Pauls, NC and after college, James joined the U.S. Air Force in 1943, served as a pilot and air traffic controller and later retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, working in his vegetable garden and volunteering at the VA Centers around OKC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jean Schmidtz, Shirley Yeargin and Sam McDonald. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Audrey; children, Linda Flakes (John), Jeanell Jordan (Warren); grandchildren, Gigi Fergus (Tim), Nikki Raichlin (Andrew), Jamie Aumiller (Shane), Jeremiah Jordan (Laura); five great-grandchildren; siblings, A.M “Bud” McDonald, Jr., Brad McDonald, Nell Cason, Louise Cain, and Elsie Brisson.
