Janet Casey

Janet Sue (Souder) Casey, 77, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020, in Midwest City, OK. Janet was born on June 29, 1942, in Almartha, MO, to Basil and Chloe (Welch) Souder. Janet graduated from Gainesville High School and spent the majority of her career in the commercial sector of the insurance business. She was also a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend.

She enjoyed many hobbies such as bargain shopping, reading (a lot of books and the funny pages from the paper), crossword puzzles, or watching TV (NBA and the college playoffs, or a good crime or mystery) and just hanging out with family. She had a bit of a sweet tooth and always had some soft peppermints, or Snickers, or tootsie roll pops around to share with everyone. She specifically kept the Orange tootsie roll pops on hand as they were TJ’s [her grandson’s] favorite.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Chloe Souder, her first husband James W. Casey, her sister Patsy Land and brother in law Raymond Land, her brother in law Gene Haight, one stepson Charles and his wife Billie Jo Casey.

She leaves behind her significant other of 20+ years, Jim Eddie of Midwest City, OK, sister, Zula Haight of Wimberley, TX, and stepchildren, Randy Eddie of Huntsville, AL, Richard Eddie of Cullman, AL, Jeremy Winchester and wife Ruby of Williamstown, MA, Amy Byars and husband Terrance of Oklahoma City, OK, James R. Casey of Oklahoma City, OK, Terresa Thompson and husband Chris of Casa Grande, AZ, not to mention a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other beloved family and friends.

The graveside funeral service will include immediate family only, due to the current restrictions placed on large gatherings, and will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 7th, 2020, at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Janet’s name to a charity of your choice.
