J.D. Smith, age 76 of Del City, passed away October 2, 2013. J.D. was born July 23, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Samuel Smith and Ruth (Gaddy) Smith. J.D. worked at the Safeway Grocery Inc. for 30 years. He also served in the United States Army and worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a Section Chief for 15 years. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed being a craftsman, especially when it came to woodworking. He is survived by his Son: James D. Smith Jr. and wife Becky of Midwest City, OK; Daughter: Cynthia Sue Earls and husband Timothy of Harrah, OK; 5 Grandchildren: Carrie Smith , Darcie Howard, Amanda Earls, Tanner Earls, and Trey Smith ; two great-grandchildren: J.R. and Alex ; one sister: Pat Emmerich of Oklahoma City, OK, and one brother: Terry Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Doretha “Dot” Smith. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. , Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, Del City, Oklahoma with Interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma
