Joe Willie Jones passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022 at the age of 84. Joe was born on July 31, 1937 in Osceola, Arkansas to Willie and Ada (Sanders) Jones. Eventually the family moved to Illinois, where Joe completed high school at Crane High School in Chicago.
Joe heard his country’s call and joined the US Air Force where he proudly served for 28 years. He retired from the Air Force, reaching the rank of SMSgt (Senior Master Sergeant) and receiving numerous service medals. Joe continued to serve his country in a different capacity, as a US Postman. He served another 17 years. When Joe wasn’t working he enjoyed fishing, watching sports and old westerns on TV, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. His faith was also important to him and he was baptized in the Baptist church.
Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beatriz B. Jones; children Cheryl Dugan and spouse Richard Dugan of Chicago, Illinois, Ada Jones and spouse Donnie Evans of Oklahoma City, Jackie Harrison and spouse Shawn Harrison of Moore, and Joey Jones of Oklahoma City; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Mycal Harrison, CJ Harrison, Taylor Honeysuckle, Kamrie Harrison, and Kanille Harrison. Joe is also survived by a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and devoted friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ada Jones and siblings, Osker Jones and Ada Lee Hargrays.
