Our grandpa, Larry Gene Johnson, Sr finished his journey on earth on September 4, 2014, at Midwest Regional Hospital. He was born November 14, 1943 to Eugene and Bernetta Johnson in Orange County, CA. He grew up near Disney Land with his two brothers and two sisters. Grandpa joined the Army in 1960 and was part of the 101st Airborne 7th Calvary Division. Grandpa finished his commitment to his country in 1966. He married his “best friend, love, and wife” Shirley Brummer on May 8, 1964, and they built their lives together in Oklahoma City; Grandpa and Grandma were blessed to have just celebrated fifty years of marriage. They had two children, Larry Jr. and Larienea. Grandpa worked as a journeyman for Burns Electric for 20 years and then as a commercial electrician for Parker Electric for 22 years. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City. Grandpa enjoyed decorating cakes for our birthdays, gardening, wood working, taking pictures, hunting, spending time outdoors with his son, grandson, and buddies, making jewelry for all of us girls, and just hanging out with his family whom he loved and who loves him. Our grandpa was the most selfless, generous man we’ve ever known; he would have done and did do anything he could for us. Grandpa invested his love and life in us, his family, and now his legacy will live on in us. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary, and his sister Karen. Grandpa is survived by his wife Shirley, his brother Mike, his sister Janice, his son Larry and his wife Michelle of Norman, his daughter Larienea Ransford and her husband Mark of Choctaw, his grandkids Britney, Stephanie, Jessica, Madisen, Caitlyn, and Kendall, and his great-grandson Joseph. We love and miss you, Grandpa. We’ll see you soon. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 8, 2014 at First Southern Baptist Church of Del City with interment at Arlington Memory Gardens.
Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.
