Larry Jack Simmons, 78, courageously went into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by father, Jack Simmons, mother, Rosa Simmons, and son, Larry Jack Simmons, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lorraine (Penn) Simmons, daughter, Darlene (Waugh) Jones, grandchildren, Allen, John, and Casandre Jones, and his brother, Gary Simmons. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Larry was an avid supporter of Vietnam Veterans and Disabled Veterans of America. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Downed Bikers of Oklahoma City and Tunnels to Towers for disabled and homeless veterans.
Larry never met a stranger and whoever met him, loved him. He is known for his many vehicles with all the bells and whistles, his practical jokes, and his infamous train whistle. There was never a dull moment with Larry and laughter was always near.
Larry will be viewed from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023. There will be a memorial service Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2pm at the funeral home, followed by full military honors at graveside at Resthaven Cemetery in Moore.
Donations would be appreciated in Larry's name to Tunnels to Towers.
