Rachel Gustava Smith

Rachel Smith was born in Bootjack, Michigan on June 23, 1932. She attended Lake Linden-Hubbell School for 12 years. She then went to nursing school at St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1951 and became a registered nurse. She married William Smith on April 16, 1955. She worked as a nurse until she retired at the age of 62. Rachel loved the Lord and was a faithful child of God. She was a loving, selfless and devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Her door was always open to anyone in need. Rachel is survived by her 5 children and their children and grandchildren – her first daughter Colleen Thomas (Butch) and their 3 children Kerry (Brian) and their three children Taylor (Danielle), Trysten and Emma, Trey (Sheli) and their 2 children Kash and Avery, MaKenzie and her 2 daughters Zola and Lennox; second daughter Elaine Berryhill and her 2 daughters Jamie and her son Braiden, Jennifer and her 2 sons Kyle and Luke; third daughter Tara and her 3 boys Brandon (Lacey), Craig, Jeremy (Shanna) and their 3 children Kamden, Hadley and River; fourth daughter Kay Johnson (Mark) and their 2 boys Joshua (Fiance Carley) and Alec; one 1 son Thomas Smith (Brenda)and their 2 daughters Shelby and Meghan. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband William (1980) and her great-grandson Riley (2007).
