Robert Earl Stoetzel was born in Rome, New York on July 27, 1945 to Earl S. Stoetzel and Bertha Coleman. He passed away on May 24th, 2022 at home. His childhood was spent in Utica, New York. Two days after graduating high school in 1962 he boarded a bus to MCRD in Parris Island, SC, and served his country with honors throughout the Vietnam War. After being stationed at many bases around the United States with his family, he also spent time overseas, he retired 1st Sgt. USMC in 1983 after serving 21 years. Shortly after, he joined the USPS as a letter carrier at the S.E. location, and retired after serving 30 years. He spent the remainder of his years in Del City, Oklahoma.
His hobbies included watching old westerns, doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku, hunting and target shooting, watching Nascar races, the Dallas Cowboys and OKC Thunder games.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Beverly Blount, and her two sons, Bill and Wayne. He is survived by his sons, Robert E. Stoetzel, Jr., and his wife Ginger of Melbourne Beach, Florida, his son Scott Stoetzel of Oklahoma City, his nephew Warren Stone of Pennsylvania, as well as his niece Brenda Mahl of New York, his grandchildren, Nikki, Brandt, Beka, Amanda, Kameron, Austin, and Bryon, as well as several great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City, OK on Thursday, June 2, from 4-8pm.
Graveside service is Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1:30pm at the National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK.
