Veda Jo Lassiter-James-Roseberry was born February 17, 1934 and passed from this life August 30, 2007. Veda was born at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wheeler Enlowe Lassiter and Mary Jessie McKinley-Lassiter. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands Calvin Charles James and Billy Joe Roseberry. Survivors include: one sister, Nadine Phelps, of Guthrie, Oklahoma and two daughters Rosalee Beatrice James-Buff of Blanchard, Oklahoma and husband Tommy Buff, and Charlotte Marie James-Kiker of Aston, Pennsylvania, 7 Grandchildren, Katrina Kiker-Myatt, Ricky Kiker, David Buff, Clarence Buff and Beatrice Rosanne Buff-Blankenship, 22 Great Granndchildren, one nephew, Marvin Phelps and two nieces, Linda Taylor and Erna Lee Grady. Veda retired from the YMCA in Oklahoma City. Services were Monday September 3, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Sunny Lane Funeral Home with internment in Sunny Lane Cemetery. A reception followed at Veda’s home in Oklahoma City.
