Charlene Viator Touchet, the best mother, "MeMaw", sister and friend to everyone, gently closed her eyes to this earthly life and went on to her eternal peace and glory August 12, 2023. At her passing she was 67.
Charlene was born August 7, 1956 in New Iberia to the late Claude Viator and the late Hilda Moreaux Viator. She worked previously with Cypress Bayou Casino, but was most proud to be a wife, mother and grandmother. Heather spoke of how much her mom enjoyed the simple things in life and surrounded herself with the people she loved most.
Evenings at Bingo in Abbeville were always a fun time for Charlene, as she had the best of luck and won often (and then went home to share her winnings with the grandchildren). She also spent time doing jigsaw puzzles and scrapbooking which brought her peace while she relaxed in her home. There were also some memorable road trips where she took off with Heather and family and went wherever the road took them, laughing and enjoying the countryside and each others company. And while Charlene was not the cook of the family, Heather and Dirk shared that she did have the most amazing potato salad and crawfish dip, and many were blessed to have tried it.
But it can easily be said that her best times were with her sweet family. She absolutely adored Heather and her family and cherished every waking moment with them. Her sweet smile and loving heart will live on, and her legacy will forever live in the hearts of all that loved her. We will miss you, but rejoice in knowing that you are resting and that we will be reunited with you one day. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Heather Touchet Dore' and husband Dirk; her three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Taylor Renee' Dore' Glatter and husband Stephen, Kale Chandler Dore' and Caden John Dore'; a precious great grandchild whom she was eagerly awaiting February of next year; her sisters and brothers, Judy Leleux and husband Tommy, Melissa McDonald (who was Charlenes Godchild) and husband Jude, Randy Viator, Ronnie Viator and David Viator; her Godson, Mark Touchet; sister-in-law, Lorraine Touchet; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Wilson John Touchet; and her in-laws, Lawrence and Lillie Mae Touchet.
