DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Francis Earl Broussard, age 82, at 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Wednesday until service time.
A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Broussard passed away at 12:20 pm on Saturday, March 20, 2019 at his residence.
Francis was a graduate of St. Cecilia Catholic School in Broussard. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, where he served in the church choir and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. In the early 1980’s he was a member of the Barbershop Quartet in Lafayette.
He was a skilled carpenter for many years and was employed with J.B. Mouton Construction in Lafayette. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and was often found in his yard where he tended to his vegetable and flower garden.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maerine Jagers Broussard of Delcambre; his step children, Lonnie Delcambre and Tina Bourque of Delcambre and Danette Trahan of Erath; step grandchildren, Brandiss Darden and husband Dwayne and Christopher Trahan and wife Kandance; two step great grandchildren, Rhee Darden and Keith Sonnier; three nieces, Maxine Broussard, Janelle Broussard and Annette Broussard and two nephews, Dale Smith and Neil Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnus and Henrietta Frederick Broussard, Sr.; one sister, Velma Smith and one brother, Agnus Broussard, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Darden, Christopher Trahan, Dale Smith, Neil Broussard, Louis Trahan and Randall Bourque. Robert Brown will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
