Leland Richard

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Leland Paul Richard, age 53, at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Herb Bennerfield will be the celebrant for the services. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 am on Friday until service time.

A native of Abbeville and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Richard passed away at 7:03 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mr. Richard was employed with Dow Chemical Co. as a senior pipeline technician for 30 years. He was a very active member of the Aurora Lodge #193 F&AM in New Iberia. He also belonged to the York Rite Bodies; 32nd Degree Scottish Rites; Habibi Shrine and the Red Cross of Constantine.

Leland was known as a gentle giant who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed basketball and baseball and coaching the kids and teaching them the love of the sport. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Richard is survived by his wife of 13 years, Hope Langlinais Richard of Delcambre; two sons, Derik Richard of Lafayette and Seth Richard of Abbeville; two daughters, Nicole Richard of Lafayette and Toria Richard of Kaplan; and five grandchildren, Jenifer Paige Richard; Gabriel Paul Richard; Trevor Richard; Kaleb Chevalier and Layla Marie Courville; his parents, Roy and Beverly Lavergne Richard of Abbeville; one sister, Tina R. Carr of Houston; his in laws, Noicy and Verlie Veronie Langlinais of Delcambre and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Moise and Louise Castille Lavergne and his paternal grandparents, Adonis and Rosita Frederick Richard.

Pallbearers will be Derik Richard, Seth Richard, Ryan Richard, Darel Richard, Chris Broussard, Curley Dartez and Richard Thibodeaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Langlinais.
