Oswald James Thibodeaux, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Seattle, WA on Sunday, November 30, 2025, after a year long battle with cancer. He was 85 at his passing.
Ozzie as he was affectionately know was born on December 22, 1939, in Abbeville, LA to the late Alphe “Beb Thibodeaux and Rosy “Sis” Touchet.
He was a graduate of Delcambre High School in 1958 and attended Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM) in Monroe, LA.
Ozzie was employed in the oil field industry with three major oil companies over his career, Skelly Oil, Getty Oil and Texaco. His skills as a rig foreman, shore base operator and workover foreman included employment in Texas, Georgia and Louisiana.
He enjoyed traveling and had traveled solo on several trips before meeting Becky in 1985 on a tour of Portugal, Spain and Morocco. Besides his worldly travel, he enjoyed anything automotive and sports, following LSU and the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Becky, his son, Andre’, and his sister Cheryl LeBlanc; his five nieces and nephews, Troy Romero, Christy Romero (Richard Darby), Todd Romero and Jenee Creighton (Raymond), Brooke Domingues (Tyler); great nieces and nephews, Lexie Creighton, Carson Creighton, Lily Domingues, Rosy Domingues and Jonathan Romero along with and an extended number of cousins in the South Louisiana area.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Romero.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre. Fr. Buddy Breaux will officiate. Following the mass, he will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Men’s Rosary Group will pray the rosary at 6:00 pm on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen on Friday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Andre’ Thibodeaux, Richard Darby, Raymond Creighton, Carson Creighton, Todd Romero and Relie Reaux. Troy Romero and Mike Parich are honorary pallbearers.
