Dortha Louise West Holt

The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, Texas for visitation from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 27, 2014.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 28, 2014 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Grissom officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. The family will go back to the church to visit with family and friends after the interment.

Dortha was born in Farmersville, Texas on Tuesday, October 15, 1929, the daughter of Samuel Douglas West and Dollie Mae West. She married Willie Dee Hawkins in 1947 and he is the father of her sons. Dortha was a long time member of Twin Cities Baptist Church. She was retired from Grayson County, where she worked for a number of years, first in the tax office and later in the county attorney’s office, where she met her second husband, James Holt. When Jim passed away, she moved to Tulsa to live with her son Mark and his wife Anita. She loved gardening and children, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by sons Alan Dee Hawkins of Sherman, Mark Duane Hawkins and wife Anita of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brothers Doyle & Lois West of Casper, Wyoming, Bobby Joe & Judy West of Durant, Oklahoma; sister Barbara Jean & Don Harris of Durant, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by parents; late husband Willie Dee Hawkins; son Steven Dale Hawkins, who died at childbirth; late husband James Holt; brothers Samuel Douglas West, Hubert Newton West and sister Joyce Gore.
