Aggie S. Valdez, 81 years old of Denver passed at her home on December 13th 2015, surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. She was born in Taos, New Mexico. She was one of 10 surviving children. She and her family moved to Denver in her teenage years. She worked at Brecht’s Candy Company here in Denver where she met her future husband Gilbert. After marrying they made their way to So. California after he completed his services with the Army to rear and raise their four children. Roland, Vince, Gerald and Valerie. She had 7 Grandchildren, Robert, Vanessa, Jacob, Thomas, Felicia, Nicholas and Christina. She worked in sales and banking. She loved to gamble, garden and spend time with her family. She always had a smile on her face and her favorite musician was Elvis Presley. She would say to us now that she “Did it her way” She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in South Gate, CA for 40 years. She returned to Denver in 1995 to spend the remainder of her life with her extended family.
Aggie fought a long battle against Dementia. She was cared for by her loving grandson Robert Pavon who unselfishly devoted his life to caring for her and her daughter Valerie. Over the years we had help through Meal’s and Wheels, Kaiser and in the end Denver Hospice. We would like to thank each of these organizations for helping us care for our dear mother and grandmother. We would also like to thank Church of the Risen Christ for providing her the last rites. It was so hard for us to let her go, but it was obvious in the past week that she could battle no more. We will miss her dearly and hope now that she is at Peace….and with those in her family that have preceded her in death. Husband Gilbert Valdez, son Gerald Valdez, parent’s Laurie and Eulalia, siblings, Bobby, Perry, Ernest, Gloria, and Harry. She is also survived by her remaining siblings, Lillian, Angelo, Geraldine, and Isla.
We sat beside your bedside, our hearts were crushed and sore: we did our duty to the end. ‘til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away; and though our hearts were breaking we knew you could not stay. You left behind some aching hearts, that loved you most sincere; we never shall and never will forget you, Mother/Grandmother Dear.
