Arden Fastenau

Arden Paul Fastenau of Aurora, Colorado died on April 8, 2012. Arden was born in Clarinda, Iowa, on October 13, 1926, to Rudolph and Stella (Nothwehr) Fastenau. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church on October 24, 1926, and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, in Clarinda. His family lived there until he graduated from Clarinda High School in 1944. At that time they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he attended Trinity Lutheran Church and enrolled at the University of Nebraska. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1949 and moved to Denver, Colorado. He attended Grace Lutheran Church before marrying Lillian Walde in 1952 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. They became charter members of Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora, CO, in 1953.

Arden is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, his parents, two brothers, Leo and Lowell, and one grandson, Peter Sjaastad. Survivors include his three daughters, Marcia (John) Imse, Beth (David) Sjaastad, and Eileen (Parley) Johnson, and six grandsons, Jared and Nathan Imse, Kevin and Daniel Sjaastad, and Steven and Scott (Lyndsay) Johnson, one sister, Ruth (Carl) Werner, brothers-in-law Raymond (Clara) Walde, Leonard (Shirley) Walde and Paul Walde, sisters-in-law JoAnn Fastenau, Wilma Walde, Gladys (Phil) Hagny, Marilyn (Max) Yoakum, Marlene Brudenell, Leona Walde and JoAn Walde.

Arden started his business career with Cudahy Packing Company in Denver before working for Conoco, Inc., along with several other oil companies. He spent 20 years with Kissinger Oil Corporation as Vice-President, Finance, and Treasurer. While there he successfully passed the Certified Public Accountant examination in 1967.

During his years as a member of Hope he served as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, member of the Boards of Elders, Finance, Education, Stewardship, Building Committee, and as Sunday School Superintendent. He also served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of Colorado Lutheran Home and Treasurer of the Rocky Mountain District.
