

He was born in Dota, Arkansas on August 12, 1932 to Darius (Boots) and Ada James. He left school early to go into the tree business with dad. He was married to Ila Adams, with whom he had 6 children. After their divorce, he was married to Jean Helfenbein in 1969.
George worked in millwork for 35 years at Gates Rubber Company. He was also self-employed as a professional tree trimmer, a skill he learned from his father. He retired at age 57 from Gates to enjoy his passion for camping, hunting, and fishing. He accepted Christ as his savior on December 26, 1996 and was baptized and became a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church on January 1, 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his church family. He also had a passion for dogs - he always had at least 1 dog. He is survived by his wife, Jean, 3 daughters, Kathy Tunis, Pam Spadi and Cindy Owens, and 2 stepsons, DeWayne and Loren Helfenbein, He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, George is also survived by 2 sisters, Irene Hutchison and Agnes Adams.
The funeral service will be held at 11 am on January 3, 2014 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 5140 Carr St. in Arvada, Colorado.
