Gerald O. Thompson

Gerald O. Thompson, age 80 passed away on Tuesday June 19, 2018. Gerald was born December 2, 1937 in Deer Trail, Colorado to Olin and Myrtle Thompson. Along with 2 Brothers and 1 Sister Jerry spent his childhood in Deer Trail where he graduated high school. Following graduation Jerry joined the United States Coast Guard and served proudly for 4 years.

Jerry continued in civil service following the Military as a member of the Arapahoe County Sherriff's Department and a member of the Search and Rescue Dive unit through out the 60's.

In 1968 He married Karen Sumner of South Dakota. A blended family, Jerry and Karen worked together raising 8 children and even had enough love left over for a little girl of their own, Neisha.

For the next 20 years Jerry worked for a Fire Safety Company installing fire sprinklers until his retirement.

A Cowboy first, Jerry and Karen settled in Byers, Colorado and enjoyed his Horses, Gardening, fishing and camping. Jerry and Karen bought a new truck and trailer just for these occasions. Sadly, Jerry's health declined before he was able to enjoy taking his family for a trip in it.

A kind man, Jerry will be forever known. A man who loved his family both two legged and four Jerry leaves behind his Wife Karen of nearly 50 years and his children: Julie (Roger) DeVine of Watertown, South Dakota, Denise (Brian) McDonough of Romania, Kathleen (Robert) Thompson of Byers, Colorado, Boyd Thompson of Kentucky, Terry Weber of Vermilion, South Dakota, Gerald (Delores) Thompson of Pueblo, Colorado, Andrea (Darrell) Davis of Parker, Colorado, Kristie (Donald) Sullivan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Neisha Thompson and Fiancé Paul Lorentz of Bay Port Michigan; his many Grandchildren, many Great-Grandchildren, his 2 four legged family members Ozzy and Chico; and many cousins and friends. He is also survived by his brother Dennis (Christine) Thompson; his brother Robert (Kathleen) Thompson; and his sister Judy (Jackson) Bender.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
