Aunt Helen was actually my mom's (Pauline Dougherty) first cousin. But since they were so close most of their lives they were like sisters. 
Helen was one of the "Greatest Generation": hardy, resourceful and determined. I recall many great Thanksgivings with her here in Colorado. She was very kind, giving, thoughtful and intelligent.  It has been sad since she has gone home but our lives are richer having known her. May God bless her.
