Karyn Lynnia Wright was born on January 8, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia and peacefully departed from this world surrounded by her loved ones on March 6, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 68. Her life’s journey was rich with love, dedication, and faith—a path that began in the heart of Georgia and saw her through her formative years in Columbia, South Carolina and in Ithaca, New York where she graduated from Ithaca High School in 1974.
Karyn’s life took a pivotal turn when she moved to Denver, Colorado, and married her husband, Trevor Duane Wright. Their union, lasting 37 years, bore witness to three beloved children, Natasha Marie Wright, Camron Wardell Wright, and Kobe Alexander Wright. Her influence flourished within the family, and she extended her nurturing heart as a grandmother to her grandson, Liam Michael Wright (Camron Wright’s son). Karyn’s devotion to her family was unconditional and profound. Known for her culinary skills and homemaking, Karyn poured her heart into creating a warm and loving environment for her family. Karyn wholeheartedly supported her children's academic and extracurricular endeavors by always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and attending their events.
Karyn was a figure of grace and beauty, both inside and out. She was an incredibly talented woman who was dedicated and exemplary in her career in customer service while raising three children. Karyn’s commitment extended beyond her immediate circle. As a devout Jehovah's Witness, she constantly strived to serve her community. Her kindness was limitless. She donated money, volunteered to deliver food, and offered rides to many in her community. Even when Karen didn’t have much, she was always willing to give to anyone less fortunate. Although humble and shy, Karyn was an incredible singer, and her beautiful voice was melodious when she sang at the Kingdom Hall. Karyn enjoyed thrift store shopping with her mother and children, taking long walks, reading, dancing, attending plays, watching movies, driving down Colfax after bible study, touring homes on sale on the weekends, watching HGTV to get interior design ideas, and playing card games like Bid Whist and Uno. Karyn was always open to trying new activities, including traveling, attending festivals and cultural events, and trying exotic foods.
Karyn is preceded in death by her parents John Wesley Plunkett II and Constance Lee Plunkett, along with her grandparents John Wesley Plunkett, Annie Green Nelson (Paternal), Sherman Wardell Mitchell, and Clara Thompson Mitchell (Maternal). Karyn is survived by her husband Trevor Duane Wright, children Natasha Marie Wright, Camron Wardell Wright, Kobe Alexander Wright, and her grandson Liam Michael Wright. She is also survived by her brothers Randolph Plunkett, Christopher Plunkett, John Plunkett III, and Eric Plunkett, along with several nieces and nephews. Karyn leaves behind a void that can never be filled, and her family will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” -Revelation 21:4
