Laurella Scott, 91, of Denver, passed away on May 12th at University Heights Care Community in Aurora. She was born Laurella Lavera Lewis on January 30, 1927 to Fred Lewis and Alice Shireman Lewis, in Walnut, Kansas. Laurella attended rural area schools in Union County, Iowa, graduating from Creston Iowa High School in 1946.
On July 13, 1947, Laurella married Dale Springer in Ottawa, Kansas. They had 2 sons, Bruce and Greg. Because of Dale's health the family decided to relocate to Denver in 1958. Sadly, Dale passed away. After a time, Laurella remarried a man named Taylor Scott, who went by just Scott, in 1974.
Laurella held a variety of different jobs, but she was most proud of her work at Montgomery Ward's on Broadway. She and Scott enjoyed jeeping in their spare time, and when they retired, they loved to travel around in the mobile home. Laurella was also a 70 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star.
Laurella is survived by her sons, Bruce (Angela) Springer of Virginia Beach, VA; Greg (Anita) Springer of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, John Springer of Aurora, CO, Shelly (Brian) Townley of Aurora, CO, April (Edward) Matienzo of Virginia Beach, VA, and Jeremy (Patricia) Springer of Omega, GA. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
Laurella is preceeded in death by her parents; husbands; special friend Chester Mendocha; sisters, Shirley and HK Lorimor; and daughter, Sydney Sue Springer who died at birth in 1935.
Laurella will be deeply missed.
