He was born on August 18, 1948, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is survived by Rebecca Rivera, ex-wife. Daughter, Michelle Rivera Holcomb, and son-in-law, Warren Holcomb; granddaughter, Bridgett Skinner, grandson, Donald Holcomb. Survived by niece Mandee Schroer, nephews Nick, Shonn and Justin Schroer. Sisters, Veronica Schroer and Lourdes Rivera Sedillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo Rivera and Cordelia Ortiz Rivera; sister, Christina Hyde; paternal grandparents, Juan Rivera and Vitalia Rivera; and maternal grandparents, Canuto Ortiz and Eloisa Ortiz.
Larry Rivera attended Pojoaque High School, graduating in 1966. After graduation, He received a BA degree from Metro State University Denver. After college, Larry enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas in Vietnam, where he proudly served his country.
Upon returning to the United States, he drove his navy-blue Volkswagen Beetle to Colorado, where he settled and began his life. Larry began a 25-year career with the Social Security Administration. After retiring, he embarked on a second career.
Some of his most memorable years were spent driving the school bus for Cherry Creek Schools. He proudly drove bus number 1094 for 13 years, after which he officially retired from working.
He was known for his passions and hobbies including, dancing, bike riding, gardening, cookin, golf and hiking. His love for pancakes and coffee with one creamer. He enjoyed drinking soda, it was his favorite drink. Larry loved listening to Spanish music.
He will always be remembered for his love and contributions with Knights of Columbus.
Larry Rivera will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
