Romeo Joseph Martin

Romeo Arthur Joseph Martin, 91, peacefully passed away June 2, 2023, in the loving arms of his bride of 66 years, Lorette, and surrounded by their children. Romeo, one of thirteen siblings, was born in Souris Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1931.

Romeo’s journey with Lorette (Dechief) began during his high school years when they first met. Their love blossomed, and they continued to nurture their relationship while Romeo pursued his studies at the University of Denver, where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. In June 1957, they exchanged vows in Canada before settling in Denver.

Romeo was a devoted family man blessed with seven children, seventeen grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He loved to travel with Lorette to see family, go camping, and watch the Broncos.

He took great pride in his work, working full-time as a Journeyman Electrician at the University of Denver while attending full-time as a student. After graduating, he worked as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Gates Rubber Co. for six years; then Project Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Manager, and Procurement Task Manager at Stearns Catalytic (previously Stearns-Roger Corp.) for 30 years.

Upon retirement, he vigorously worked on his inventions as well as projects with his grandchildren. His ever-active creative mind kept him young. Romeo touched the lives of many through his faith in God, willingness to help others, kindness, and generous heart. He will be sorely missed by his immediate and extended family and friends.

Wife: Lorette; Daughters: Michelle Martin Streeby (John), Renee Fielhauer (Jerry), Jacqueline Debevec (Edward), Danielle Hrovat (Daniel), and Mary Brown; Sons: John (Victoria Vigden) and Jeff (Hilary); Sisters: Irene Martin and Denise Doud. 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Predeceased by Parents: Raymond and Yvonne (Labosseriere) Martin; Brothers: Norman, Theodore, Arthur, Gerard, and Denis; Sisters: Dolores Verklan, Yvette Whistle, Solange McKeever, Sylvia Camden, and Theresa Blachford.

A visitation for Romeo will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231. A rosary service will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Risen Christ Catholic Parish, 3060 S. Monaco Pkwy,, Denver, CO 80222. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Risen Christ Catholic Parish, 3060 S. Monaco Pkwy,, Denver, CO 80222. A reception will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Risen Christ Catholic Parish, 3060 S. Monaco Pkwy,, Denver, CO 80222. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.

Serving as pallbearers are John Martin , Jeff Martin , Jerry Fielhauer , Dan Hrovat , Nickolas "Skeeter" Hansen and Peter Hrovat.
