Shirley Jean Davis

She is survived by her son, Scott Davis (married to Lynn Davis), her grandchildren Max and Zoë Davis, and her brother Karl Hook (married to Marjorie Hook). She was preceded in death by her husband John R. Davis, her parents Homer and Mary (Lewis) Hook, and her sister Dorothy Hook.

Shirley was born on July 25, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended Benton High School where she met and fell in love with her future husband, John. They attended college at Northwest Missouri State College, where they both studied to become teachers. John and Shirley married on August 14, 1953, and after college took teaching positions in Denver, Colorado. They were blessed with the birth of their son, Scott, in 1969.

Throughout her life, Shirley’s true joy was helping young people discover a passion for learning. With over 35-years of teaching experience, she had a profound influence on the lives of over 1,000 children. She was known for her kindness, strength, sensibility, and her impeccable sense of style.

A Celebration of Life Brunch will be held at Pinehurst Country Club on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 11:00am.
