Ben Nakamura

Ben Nakamura, age 91, of Des Plaines, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Ben was born on January 13, 1931 to Tokuhe Nakamura and Tsuye Nakashima in Portland, OR. Ben is survived by his beloved wife Joyce (Henmi), son Richard and his wife Christine, granddaughters Sara and Kayla, sister Mits, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.

After graduating from Gresham Union High School in Gresham, OR, Ben served in the Korean War, then later moved to Chicago, IL where he met his wife of 57 years, Joyce.

Ben was a good athlete and played numerous sports. He was on the high school baseball team and bowled in many leagues after moving to Chicago, but he later found his true sport obsession of golf.

After working as a salesman at Sears Roebuck & Co for over 30 years, he retired and had more time to pursue his love of golf. He was on the golf course every chance he could with his good friends in the Chicagoland area and took numerous trips to Palm Springs with his wife, Joyce, with golf being the focal activity.

A visitation for Ben will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016 followed by a memorial service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
