Howard W. Hiller

Howie proudly served the Des Plaines community as a firefighter and Captain of the North Maine Fire Department for 30 years. Born March 15, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Mildred Hiller. Beloved husband of Jeanne (nee Harrison); loving father of Stacy Lynn (Jason) Jaffe and Robert Wayne (Jillian) Hiller; devoted grandfather of Abigail and Ryan Hiller; dearest brother of Marilyn Jaszkowski and the late Robert Hiller; fond uncle to Carl Jaszkowski and Carolyn Russell.

Howie was a member of the Medinah Shriners for over 50 years and enjoyed playing in the Oriental band. Howie and Jeannie celebrated 51 wonderful years of marriage June 17, 2023. They were high school sweethearts who met while attending Maine East high school. Throughout his life Howie enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, hunting, golfing, and billiards. Howie was a big Chicago sports fan, a die-hard Bears fan and “sometimes” a Cubs fan. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family in his home. Above all, Howie loved his family and spending time with them.

A visitation for Howie will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, at the funeral home, following an interment from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 East Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
