Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Gwen Vesely (née Maringer).
He was the cherished son of the late Jerome A. and Margaret Vesely (née Bell), and a devoted brother to Penny Vesely-Sweeney (Mike), Mary Ellen Liggett (George), and the late Karen Wilson Cargill (Steve). He is also lovingly remembered by Bernie and Terri Maringer and Craig and Louise Voyles.
A proud uncle, Jerry held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews: Wendel Maringer, Lynn Capozzi, Jeff Sweeney, Brian Sweeney, Lisa Wilson, Kim Carroll, Jenn Supple, and Megan Marshall, along with many grand-nieces and grand-nephews who brought him great joy.
Jerry graduated from DeVry Technical College and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Over the years, he dedicated his talents to companies such as Western Electric, GTE, DoAll Tools, and Jewel Osco before retiring to enjoy more time with Gwen.
An avid fisherman and lifelong music lover, Jerry especially adored singing the songs of Dean Martin. He was a devoted member of St. Zachary Parish in Des Plaines, where he joyfully sang in the choir and shared his voice with his community.
Jerry’s warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 25 at St. Zachary’s Church, 567 W. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow the Mass at Ridgewood Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Des Plaines, IL.
