Maximilian Moon

Chang Wook was the son of Seongyul Moon and Ocheon Kang. He was also the beloved husband of Christina Kil Ja Kang Moon; a loving father of Tammy (James) Moon and Susie (KJ) Kim; cherished grandfather of Taylor Moon, Bradley Moon, Sarah Kim, Eunice Kim, Mary Kim, and Samuel Kim; fond uncle of Pilsu Kang (Yungsook), Kum Hee Byun (Paul), Pil Chong Park (Se Joon), Peter Kim (Konnie); supportive brother-in-law of Chol Soo Kim; cherished brother of Mijinja Moon and fond uncle of Heesuk Ko, Yukyung Ko, Heekyung Ko, Kyunghee Ko, Sangwoon Ko, Yuhjoo (Minjung) Ko all living in Korea.

Maximilian, better known as Chang Wook to his Korean friends, was a diligent and hard working husband and father. He worked very hard to provide for his family and sacrificed much to give them a better life. He held many types of jobs ranging from driving taxis to drafting to owning a dry cleaning business. And he knew how to fix almost anything. When he wasn’t working long hours he enjoyed sports, especially soccer. Even if it meant getting injured, he would rarely miss an opportunity to play with his soccer club. He also treasured his friends and community in the Jejudo Association of Chicagoland.

He was a generous grandfather who was especially proud of all 6 of his grandchildren. He was a dependable and cherished brother to his younger sister in Korea and loved to regularly visit her family and large extended family in Jejudo since his retirement.

He and his wife attended Korean Central Covenant Church for over 30 years and then First Korean United Methodist Church until recently when he entered a nursing health center due to his weakening condition. Maximilian was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016 and fought courageously for 5 years while being the full time caregiver for his wife Christina who has been suffering from dementia.

He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.

하나님의 사랑하는 아들 문창욱님께서 2021년 8월21일 (토) 향년 81세로 하나님의 부르심을 받으셨기에 부고 합니다.

그는 강길자 여사의 사랑하는 남편으로; 문동희(무영) 과 김수지(정연) 의 존경하는 아버지로; 문지연, 문지훈, 김지연, 김수연, 김미연, 김태연의 소중한 할아버지로; 강필수(영숙), 변금희(폴), 박필정(세준), 김순동(카니)의 정겨운 이모부로; 문미진자의 소중한 오빠, 김철수의 든든한 처남으로; 또한 고희석, 고유경, 고희경, 고경희, 고상운, 고여주(민정)의 다정한 삼촌으로 한평생을 사셨습니다.

문 창욱님은 근면성실하고 부지런한 남편이자 아버지셨습니다. 그는 가족을 부양하기 위해 늘 열심히 일하셨고, 가족이 좀 더 나은 환경에서 생활할수 있도록 당신의 많은 것들을 포기하고 희생하셨습니다. 그는 택시 운전사일, 제도직, 세탁소 경영에 이르기까지 다양한 직업에 종사했으며 손만대면 무엇이든 고칠 수 있는 멋진 맥가이버 같은 능력자 였습니다.

그는 늘 긴 시간을 일하셨고 조금이라도 시간적 여유가 있을때는 스포츠, 특히 축구를, 즐기셨습니다. 운동중 부상을 입었을 때도 조기 축구 클럽에서 뛰는 기회를 놓치는 일은 거의 없었습니다. 그는 Chicagoland의 제주도 협회 친구들와 지역 사회를 소중히 여겼습니다. 그는 특히6명의 손자/손녀 모두를 너무도 사랑하고 자랑스러워하는 관대한 할아버지셨습니다. 한국에 있는 여동생에게는 항상 든든하고 소중한 오빠였고, 은퇴한 이후로는 여동생, 조카들, 그리고 제주도에 계시는 여러 가족들을 정기적으로 방문하는 것을 좋아하셨습니다.

그는 아내와 함께 30년 넘게 중앙교회에 출석하셨고, 몸이 허약해져 요양병원에 입소하기 얼마전까지는 시카고한인제일연합감리교회에 출석하셨습니다..

문창욱님은2016년 간암 진단을 받은후, 투병하던 중, 치매를 앓고있는 아내 크리스티나를 5년 동안 간병하시다가, 8월 21일 하나님의 부르심을 받으셨습니다.

그립고 보고싶은 마음은 이루 말할수 없지만 여러분들의 사랑과 기도 덕분에 저희 유가족 모두 위로를 받습니다. 감사합니다.
