Samir Ahmed Halim was a May baby, born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. He was the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Cairo University. After graduating college, he left Egypt to begin his teaching career in Sudan, Africa. In his 30’s he moved to Nigeria, and became a principle of an all male university. Nigeria is also where he met his wife, Maria. Soon after, they fell in love, got married, and traveled the world. They had a son in Madrid, Spain (Ihab), a son in Nigeria, Africa (Jay), and lastly Samir’s youngest and only daughter in Chicago, IL USA (Suheer).
After Samir moved to America in 1980, he worked as a very successful salesman. He loved his family, good food, fancy cars, big houses, and the finer things in life. He bought his first house in Chicago, IL, in the early 1980’s, and moved to his second big house in the suburbs of Chicago when his children were in grade school. Samir lived the remainder of his life in the suburbs of Chicago.
He is survived by his three loving children, Ihab, Jay, and Suheer. His grandchildren Vincent and Isabella Marie. In additional, his ex-wife Maria, his younger siblings Sawsen & Samih, and our dear family friend (his caretaker for the last 30 years) Amira A.
Samir’s family is missing a large part of their hearts with him passing unexpectedly. Wherever Samir went, he was always very highly regarded. So heaven is in store for a big surprise! He was a larger than life man, who valued family, honesty, loyalty, and the finer things in life. Samir will be very sorely missed. Rest In peace dad, we love you more than words could ever express, and we look forward to being reunited with you in heaven someday.
