William Harvey

William Harvey, 97, of Des Plaines was born on August 2, 1924 to the late Frank and Wilhelmina (nee Hellriegel) Harvey and passed away on November 8, 2021. William was the loving husband for 52 years to the late Rosa Harvey; beloved father to Karen (John) Kramer; fond brother to the late Louise Kukla; and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. A visitation took place on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Oehler Funeral Home followed by interment at Town of Maine Cemetery.

William served in the United States Army during World War II. He served with 4906th Service Command Unit, performing military police duties. William received the American Theater Service, WWII Victory, and Good Conduct Medals.

After serving In World War II William worked for Sun Electric Corp. for 33 years as a tool and die maker, and then for 10 years at Brass Extrusion Laboratories Limited (BELL) prior to retirement. After retirement he enjoyed tinkering with anything from car parts to broken lawn mowers. When he wasn’t busy fixing things he enjoyed building miniature steam engines in his spare time.

William (Billy) will be missed dearly.
