

Bruce A. Foster‑Herczyk, of Dexter, Michigan, passed away February 4th, 2026 surrounded by love. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on August 17, 1955, he was the son of Robert and Frances Irene (Devita) Foster. Bruce grew up in Toledo and graduated from Macomber‑Whitney High School in 1973. He went on to earn a degree in social work from the University of Toledo in 1977, later returning to school to pursue a career in nursing, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others. Bruce devoted his nursing career to psychiatric and geriatric care. During the early years of the AIDS epidemic, he provided end‑of‑life care to two men, standing with them through their final days with dignity and unwavering kindness.
Bruce shared 37 years with his husband, Walter F. Foster‑Herczyk, a partnership marked by deep affection, humor, and unwavering support. Their life together was a testament to loyalty and love.
A spectacular home cook, avid gardener and amateur potter, Bruce found joy in nurturing others, whether through a lovingly prepared meal, a thriving garden, or a quiet act of kindness. His creativity and generosity were woven into the everyday moments he shared with those around him.
He is survived by his brother Thomas (Joanne) Foster; nephews Scott (Kerry) Wunder and Gene Hegarty; niece Shannon Huber and great‑nephew Matthew Wunder.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Wunder and Kathleen Hegarty, brother, James Foster and niece Leslie Wunder.

Bruce will be remembered for his compassion, his dedication to service, and the warmth he brought into every room. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
