Lucille Therese Kovacik (née Gurley), age 84, of Jackson, was born November 22, 1939 in Rome, New York, and passed away April 6, 2024 in Jackson, Michigan. Lucille's journey began in Rome, New York, where she spent her formative years before marrying the late Thomas F. Kovacik Sr., an Air Force aviation mechanic at Griffiss Air Force Base, in 1959. Together, they built a life that brought them to Farmington Hills, Michigan, and later to Whitmore Lake, Michigan, in 1973. Throughout their retirement, they explored various locales, including Clare, Michigan, Punta Gorda, Florida, and Sparta, Tennessee, before returning to Michigan, where they resided in Eaton Rapids and, most recently, Jackson. Lucille's life is a testament to adventure and resilience, embracing each new chapter with grace and curiosity.
Loving mother of Karen Rinas (Dean Schaap) of Derwent, Alberta, Canada, James (Norma) Kovacik of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Joseph (Denise) Kovacik of Forsyth, Missouri, and Kathleen A. (Jeffrey) Etue of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Proud grandmother of Ryan Kovacik, Rebecca (Kurt) Pasch, Matthew Kovacik, Kyle Kovacik, Margaret Etue, Monica (the late Maurice) Harris, Nathan (Amber) Parker, Heather Parker, and Robert Noffke. Treasured great-grandmother of Carson, Hazel, Conor, and Dylan. Dear sister of Barbara (the late Robert) Loso of Rome, New York. Lucille will be missed by 12 nieces and nephews, many more great and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends. Lucille was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Thomas F. Kovacik Sr.; her son, Thomas Kovacik Jr. and his wife, Mary Bergman; her parents, Maurice and Anna Barbara (née Schweitzer) Gurley; and her brother, Maurice Gurley Jr.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm (Scripture Service 7:00pm) at Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 3410 Broad Street, Dexter. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00am (In State 10:00am) at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Village Church, 3430 Dover Street, Dexter. Memorial Luncheon will be held at the Church immediately following the Mass. Burial will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2:30pm at Old St. Patrick's Cemetery, 5731 Whitmore Lake Road, Ann Arbor.
