Theodore, Ted, Teddy Tear was still bidding on antique auctions, telling jokes and instructing on meal preparation right up until his peaceful passing in the late evening.
He was born in Detroit, MI and resided in 3 places very close to his heart, New Baltimore (enjoying boating and duck hunting) , Marshall and finally Dexter, MI.
He was a professional antique advertising and country store dealer for over 40 years. He was a Charter Member of TCCA(Tin Can Collectors Assoc.) and Quad A (Antique Advertising Association of America-named by him). His friends and colleagues in the business will remember that he had a client list that spanned the country, often buying and selling a prized “find” in a matter of minutes from the same location.
He and his wife Donna (of over 34 years until her passing in 1997) traveled in their motor home for over 10 years, buying, selling and making friends in the antique business. They ventured to 48 states from the Stella Pier Show (NYC) to Glendale, CA.
Prior to owning the Marshall Antiques Center with their daughter Michelle and son-in-law Doug Gravelle, they were restauranteurs . They owned the Country Kitchen, Old General Store, Ice Cream Parlor and Pizzeria and Oak Ridge Golf Course in New Baltimore, MI.
His fun filled later years were spent with his new love, the lovely Gloria Shore at her home on the banks of the beautiful Huron River. They spent over 15 years entertaining and enjoying family and friends, including Gloria’s daughter Kelly and grandson Nicholas.
One of Ted’s most joyous memories was their travel to China with Michelle and Doug to adopt their baby granddaughter, Noelle Donna Gravelle (now 16 yrs. old) . Ted (a.k.a. Big One) adored his Noelle (a.k.a. Little One).
One of his proudest achievements was surviving cancer for over 16 years and now donating his body to science at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Per his wishes, there will be no further memorium. He expressed thanks to all of his family and friends who went to great lengths to visit and call often during these past months.
