Antonio (Tony) Alejandro Villarroel of Bear River, N.S., born in Louvain, Belgium on August 26, 1973, passed away in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on September 5, 2020, shortly after his 47th birthday. Predeceased by his father, Mario Villarroel, he is survived by his mother, Nancy Robinson Villarroel of Bear River, and his brother Morris Villarroel, of Madrid, Spain, who will miss him sorely; as will Morris' wife, Erin and his niece and nephews in Spain (June, Andoni, Nico, Oliver and Liam). Aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family in Ontario, California, Kansas, Kentucky, Bolivia and Australia are mourning his loss, as are his many friends and neighbours.
Tony spent a good part of his childhood in beautiful Bear River where he was happiest playing sports with friends, especially tennis. He got his Masters in Science at McGill University and spent many years in Montreal and Toronto before returning home in 2018. He loved music, playing the piano and guitar and improvising, but most of all he had an insatiable love of learning, wanting to expand his knowledge. Funny, quick witted, sensitive, strong and determined, he was captivated by the perfect. From childhood to adulthood, he earnestly embarked on projects, from learning to dance the perfect “moonwalk”, to hitting the perfect forehand and, finally, to finding his own peace and enlightenment.
