Charles enjoyed the simple things in life; his pipe, pets, his daily strolls, soccer, reading history, debating economics with anyone who would take him on, and having beef wellington and minced pies for Christmas. Charles had an adventurous spirit, taking him through a lifetime of living and working across Canada. His banking career took him to the North, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. This is also where he acquired his lifelong friends Hank Johnston (deceased), Gary Rodford and Barry Kelsey. After meeting Pamela on a blind date, they were married in Montreal in May, 1969. Once retired they settled down in Sylvan Lake, AB in 1995. Even after Pam’s passing in April 2002, his adventurous spirit remained, and in 2007, Charles moved in with Neevee and Mark in Moncton, NB. Together, they moved no less than more four times across the Maritimes and back North, to finally land in Digby, NS, overlooking St. Mary’s Bay. Charles loved the Fundy Coast and was happy to be home again.
Charles is survived by his daughters Neevee (Mark) Pierce, Digby, NS; and Elisapee (Kevin) Pederson, Edmonton, AB; grandchildren Alex and Kaitlyn Pederson.
Aside from his parents, Charles was predeceased by his loving wife Pamela Jean (Sparrow) Carson, whom he married in Montreal, May 17, 1969 and passed away April 16, 2002, Sylvan Lake, AB. He is also predeceased by his siblings Jack Carson and Shirley (Eustace), both in New Brunswick.
Donations in memory of Charles may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Digby & Area Health Service Charitable Foundation. As per Charles wishes, there will be no funeral service.
