In her early years she enjoyed her work at the Pines Hotel and Cornwallis Base. Throughout the years she also shucked clams and was one of the best around and worked in the mink during pelting season. She was unique with her love for the most simple and basic things: card games, cribbage, and darts with family and friends, music at benefits and jam sessions with best friend and sister Beat. Quality time spent with her family was very important to her, especially her Grandchildren. She had a way with each of them that made their individual personalities shine in a way only a Gram could do. Conversation flowed easily around her kitchen table, often every chair was full, she also enjoyed lengthy phone conversations when in person visits weren’t possible. She was always ready to help, brutally honest (if you wanted to hear it) and the best keeper of secrets.

A special thank you to Dr. Gillis, Palliative Care Team, and last but never least Karen Sullivan; we the family appreciate everything you did to help and care for Della during her final days. At Della’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, gather around a kitchen table with friends and/or family. Fill the table with your favorite snacks, have an endless supply of tea, coffee, pop. Talk, laugh, cry together, take the time to appreciate each person, and save a spot for her. She will be there with you, always.
“I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow”.
