

Barton, Ellen Louise “Weedie” age 91 of Jordantown, Digby Co. passed away September 5, 2012 in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Born in Jordantown,on February 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Ida Mae Rose Miller affectionately known as “Aunt Rose”. She was employed as a clam shucker for over 25 years with Snow Brothers Clam factory. She was a member of the Acaciaville United Baptist which was a big part of her life, member of the Women’s Institute of Nova Scotia for over 30 years. Weedie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,and to her community she had an open heart. She loved cooking , well known for her baking, crafts, knitting , crocheting, sewing and quilt making. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters Lois Barton, Digby; Eva Barton, Digby; Portia Barton, Montreal; Jocelyn (Regent) Gagnon, Digby; son Kevin (Linda) Barton, Digby; 9 grandchildren and 20 great – grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband Sandford Barton, daughter Thelma Laurine Barton, brothers Oscar Miller, Bevis Miller, Harry Miller and sister Estelle Miller. Visitation will be 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm Sunday from Jayne’s Funeral Home 7 Birch St. Digby. Funeral service will be 11 am Monday from the Acaciaville United Baptist Church. Missionary Theresa Character and Pastor Galvin Simmonds will officiate with burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Jordantown. Donations in memory can be made to the Acaciaville United Baptist Church.
