Born in Digby, he was the son of the late Clyde and Mildred (Kelly) Denton. He is survived by the three loves of his life, his children, Jesse Denton, Sydney, Kaleigh Denton (Matt), Halifax, and Rankin Denton, Sydney; as well as his grandson, Hayden Denton, Sydney; brother, Allen Denton and sister in law, Cheryl Denton, Digby; lifelong friend, Mary Lou Rankin-Denton.
Harley worked for the family business Clyde A Denton Ltd Fish Processing Plant. When the plant sold he began long haul trucking for Comeau's Sea Foods Ltd, both a great source for many of his stories. He was also a member of the Masonic Freeport Lodge # 7, Freeport NS. Harley showed horses and often talked about the ‘good ole days’ with his favourite horse, Holly Beau. Harley’s heart of gold allowed him to live life to the fullest but also appreciate each and every gesture, big or small. He showed compassion, empathy and appreciation for others on a daily basis. Although Little River is where he would call home, his heart always remained in Cape Breton.
He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family. A special thank you to Brian Manzer for the support and friendship over the past 10 years.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Harley’s life will be held April 27th, 2:00 pm at Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby, Nova Scotia with pastor Noel Facey officiating. Donations in Harley's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.jaynesfuneralhome.com.
