Family was very important to Mom, as was her love of the Lord. In her younger years she enjoyed knitting for her friends, family and especially for her grandkids. In her younger years, you could always find her with a cold glass bottle of Pepsi in her hand, she had a real love of music, especially Elvis, who was her idol. She enjoyed dancing, word puzzles and don’t forget her peppermints. Mom had a great sense of humor and a quick retort.
Surviving are her daughters, Veronica Howlett, Angela Outhouse, Wendy (Gerald) Read, Natalie (Bruce) Isles; sons, Michael (Dixie) Gower and Barry (Michelle) Gower; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Franklin; sister, Irene Mercer; brothers, Herman and Richard Dakin; grandson, Brandon Read and son in law Dwight Outhouse.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 21st from 6-8 at Jayne’s Funeral Home in Digby, where the funeral service will be held Thursday, February 22nd at 2pm, Pastor Paula Davidson presiding, followed by a reception. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Digby. By request, family flowers only.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Hillsview Acres Residential Care Home and the staff of Tideview Terrace. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Bridgewater Baptist Church or Our Daily Bread.
