Lawrence Gordon O'Neil

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Lawrence G. O’Neil from Mink Cove, Digby Co., NS on Saturday April 26, 2025 at the age of 89. Lawrence grew up in Digby Neck and was a lobster fisherman for several years. He was also known as Mr. Fish, peddling seafood in Digby and surrounding areas and met a lot of new friends along the way. He and his late wife Joan also loved to go camping in Smith’s Cove, Digby Co., Lawrence at most times, became the center of attention in with his humor and love of making everyone laugh with silly jokes and funny stories.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Michael (Kim) O’Neil, Janice Hutchins, Tanya O’Neil and Tammy Chute. Grandchildren Jennifer Hutchins, Christopher (Mallory) Chute, Ashley (Adam) O’Neil, Jessica O’Neil, Anjelica (Alex) Frankland and Nicholas O’Neil. Great grandchildren Lucas, Zoey, Malik, Makai, Allison, Cooper, Levi and Myles; his sister Muriel, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was predeceased by his loving wife Joan; brother Llewelyn, sister Amelia and parents Gordon and Winnie O’Neil. Son-in-law Randy Hutchins.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Sandy Cove Fire Hall on Saturday May 17th from 2pm-4pm
