Marjorie Catherine Small age 87 of Tiddville, NS passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 27, 2021, at Digby General Hospital. Born June 9, 1934 in Liverpool, NS she was a daughter of the late Mark and Margaret (Roy) Whynot.
Marjorie worked for many years alongside her husband Kingsley at N.B. Theriault Fisheries in East Ferry. She will be remembered for her immense love of her family, her delight in her grandchildren and her ‘many sayings’. She was a wonderful baker, with a kind and generous heart and the best sense of humour. She was always willing to be silly and have fun, especially with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her only daughter, Angela Sekeris of Sarnia, ON; sons, all of Digby County: Clarence (Jeanette) Fralick, Allen (Jessie) Small, Glendon (Marie) Small and Terry (Linda) Small; daughter-in-law Freda (Roy) Thurber of Weymouth, NS; sister Hattie Lowe and brother Lyman (Diane) Whynot both of Milton, NS. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Kingsley Small; a son in infancy; son-in-law Robert Sekeris; sisters, Mildred Colborne, Grace Roberts, and Anna Lannon; brothers Allen, Sydney, Jack and David Whynot.
She leaves behind 14 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and recently she got to meet her first Great Great Grandchild Millie.
She will be especially missed by:
Verna, who will miss her spa days and lunch dates with Grammy, and of course her weekly radio bingo nights which always included her granddaughter Lori and great-granddaughters Nicole and Kendra.
Patrick, who will miss sharing all his life events with Nanny. She was so incredibly proud of him and loved their frequent phone calls where he would share stories about his day and the family.
Jeriah, who will miss his late-night coffees and his early morning talks with Nan. She always looked forward to their time together.
Emily, who will miss her weekly phone calls, and her extended yearly visits with Nanny. Whether baking, playing cards, or watching the Price is Right, silliness and shenanigans would fill the room.
Alliana, who will miss being her constant helper and bright light distraction as she brought great joy to Nanny’s last years.
Special thanks to nieces Rose (Philip) Huphman and Grace (Albert) Conrad for all the love and support they gave to their Aunt Marjie. To Heli Stanton for making the long evenings a little shorter by letting Marjorie win a few card games. Lastly, to Tim and Julie and her Leila’s Lodge friends, we are forever grateful.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Connect Care Food Box Program @ Live Well Community Church. Donation information can be found online at www.livewell.church/give.
