Dick’s career included: The Canadian Navy in1960; The Royal Canadian Air Force in 1966; Atomic Energy of Canada, 1972 until retirement in 1998. After retirement he kept busy with Cornwallis Condo Association, Felkner Hall Community Center, Cornwallis Community Newspaper and he worked at Acadia Sea Plant. Dick enjoyed Darts, bowling, bridge and curling. He competed with NS Bowling Games in Mixed 55+; Seniors Bowling 65+; winning Gold in Hants Co. in 2011 and Silver in New Glasgow.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Barbara “Joan” (nee Hartling); daughter, Carman Stevens (Kevin); son, Paul Winchester; sisters, Marlene Farnsworth (Wayne), Jackie Armstrong (Tim); brother, Lee Winchester (Claudette); sister in-law, Flo Winchester; 2 grandchildren, Amanda Sabzali (nee-Simcoe), Jennifer Stevens; 2 great grandchildren, Laci Sabzali and Blaze Sabzali, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Doris, Charles and his younger brother Doug.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home (902-245-2525), Digby. A service to celebrate Dick's life will take place at 2pm on July 23, 2019 at Felker Hall in Cornwallis Park.
