He was born December 3, 1927, in Westport, Nova Scotia to Harry and Nellie (Cameron) MacDormand. He is survived by son, Leslie; son, Edward and his wife, Bernadette Lale; granddaughter, Lauren; grandson, Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son, David.
Following high school, Bobby (as he was known to his friends) moved to Halifax to work at Halifax Shipyards. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and then the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon his retirement he had served in Canada’s armed forces for 29 years. He had a lifelong passion for flying and maintained his pilot’s licence for more than 50 years. He loved to take friends and family for scenic flights in his Cessna 172 from the Digby Airport. He enjoyed current affairs and had a keen interest in military history.
Interment will take place at a future date at Hilltop Cemetery in Westport, Brier Island, with a Celebration of Life following at the Freeport Legion. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choosing. Leave condolences at www.jaynesfuneralhome.com
