Ronald Joseph "Dusty" Woods, 70, of NS formally of BC passed away September 8, 2017 in Digby, NS. Born July 11 1947 in Vancouver, BC. Ron was the son of Henry Joseph Woods and Mary Elizabeth Provost. Ron had a lot of miracles in his life. born with spina bifida, he was not supposed to ever be able to walk, but he did. He was given a life expectancy of 35 years, yet he died at the age of 70 years. He was not expected to be able to marry, but celebrated 40 years of marriage this past spring. He had an extreme aptitude for music, and graduated from the Toronto Conservatory of music in his teen years. Ron worked as a musician, songwriter, and composer for fifty years, starting his own band when he was 12. He performed with various bands in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Michigan, being known by his stage name of Dusty Woods. He produced ten albums of original music, both country and blues, and sold his original music online as stock music as well. You can still hear samples of his music on his website, www.dustyw1.com. Ron and his wife Jeri-Lynn enjoyed a life of travel, living everywhere from New Westminster, British Columbia to Appin, Ontario, and from Nashville, Tennessee (Jeri-Lynn is a dual US/Canadian citizen) to Lacombe, Alberta, finishing up in beautiful Digby, Nova Scotia. He was a shy, quiet man, who loved his family deeply, and his wife even more deeply. He was a gentleman, a scholar, a gourmet cook, and a protective big brother, with an ironic sense of humour. He loved animals, especially dogs, and always dreamed of returning to a country way of life like his childhood in North Delta, BC. Ron beat the odds against him to carve out a life uniquely his own. He will live on in our memories and in his music. Ron is survived by his wife, Jeri-Lynn (born Thompson), sister Joan Margaret Millard and brother-in-law David Wayne Millard of Clementsvale, NS, niece Amanda Mary Christina Millard of London, England and nephew Tavis James Peter Millard of Kelowna, BC. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Henry Joseph ("Hank") Woods and Mary Elizabeth Woods (born Provost) and by his younger brother Robert Benjamin Woods.
Donations in Ron's name may be made to Digby General Hospital or to the SPCA.
