Sandra Marie Gidney

It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Marie Gidney, age 77, of Weymouth, announces the passing of loving Mom, Gramma, Aunt, and friend on January 20, 2025 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Sandy was born in Digby, the younger daughter of the late Norman and Marie (Amero) Tebo. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas.

Sandy started working at 12 years old, cleaning cans in the local store to save money to go on the bus to Halifax to visit family. She finished her education at St. Pat’s Business College in Digby then went to Halifax to work at The Royal Bank. She moved to Weymouth to marry the love of her life, Doug, and start their family. Sandy worked for a couple years at St. Pat’s as an assistant teacher to Sister Mary Charles.

She volunteered as a Cub leader and collected money for The Canadian Cancer Society. Sandy was passionate about her Artistry business helping women find the right colours of clothing and makeup to bring out their best side. As her boys grew up, she worked at Riteway then Foodland completing her secretarial career. In her younger years she raced competitively in the Powder Puff Races.

Sandy is survived by her 2 sons; Rollie and Calvin, her 2 daughters in law; Natalie and Juanita, 3 granddaughters; Augustine, Genevieve, and Magdalena, sister; Diana Jordan, sisters in law; Louise Gavel, Donna (Bob) Beatty, and Sue Theriault, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Sandy was predeceased by her brothers in law; Bobby Jordan and Gary Gidney, and her beloved nephews; Robbie Jordan and Rodney Doucette.

A visitation for Sandra will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jayne's Funeral Home, 5114 Evangeline Trail, Weymouth, NS. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM at St Joseph's Church, 17 Weymouth Falls Rd, Weymouth, NS.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy’s memory can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
