Stella Jaunita Prime Crocker

Stella Jaunita Crocker of Central Grove Digby County died peacefully with family by her side on June 5th at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She was born in Freeport, N.S on August 21st 1928 and was the daughter of Percy and Melba (Frost) Prime. Stella was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Freeport where she enjoyed playing darts and attending dances. She was also a member of the Freeport Baptist Church. Stella devoted her life to raising her nine children and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed picking berries, gardening, building puzzles, going to bingo and playing Skip-Bo. Stella loved going for drives around the island with her daughter Marion and their dog Tracker. Stella was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many people. Her strength, determination, and zest for life was a true inspiration. Stella is survived by sons, Lloyd (Maxine Frost) and Kendall (Heather) both of Tiverton; Cecil and Earl (Julie) both of Freeport; daughters, Lorraine Gillis (Frank) of Freeport; Marion (Wade Stanton) of Central Grove; Lorna Henley (Stephen) of Antigonish; Rowena (Carl Bezanson) of Digby; daughter in law Joanne (Hilburn) of Niagara Falls Ontario; brother, Howard Prime, Tideview Terrance, Digby; sisters, Janet Moore (Ivan), Freeport; and Rowena Nickerson (Curt), Coldbrook. Stella was blessed with 38 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren. Stella is predeceased by son, Hilburn, grandchildren, Isaac and Monique Crocker; sister, Marion Patterson; brothers, Daniel and Clifton Prime, and former husband Donald Crocker. Visitation will be held on June 8th from 2 pm to 4 pm in Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby. (245-2525). A Celebration of Stella’s Life will be held 2 pm on Saturday, June 22nd from the Freeport Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Small officiating. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery, Freeport.
