Verna Louise Marr

5 June, 193919 December, 2020

Verna Louise Marr passed away peacefully In Tideview Terrace, Digby, on Dec 19, 2020 at the age of 81. She was born in Carleton and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Eva (Grey) Nickerson.

Verna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Alvin. She will be sadly missed by her four children; Ted Marr (Linda), Terry Marr (Karen), Tina Tidd (Gerry), Tracy Marr (Heidi), her 9 grandchildren; Joey, Jeremy, Brandon, Phillip, Mikaela, Allison, Mackenzie, Melina, Emma , her 6 great grandchildren; Aidan, Kieran, Travis, Alice, Lucie, Lily, Brothers; Arnold, Sherman, Arden, Corey, and Sisters; Marilyn, Natalie and Joy.

Verna was a long time member of the New Tusket Baptist church where she was very dedicated to the work of her Lord. She taught adult Sunday School classes, youth group, ladies Bible Study, carried out many jobs in the ladies auxiliary and sang in the choir. Music was a big part of Verna's life. Rather it be spending time at family reunions standing around the piano with her brothers and sisters, going to bluegrass festivals, around a fire camping with friends or just singing alto along with Alvin as he played his guitar. Verna was a very crafty person. Not only was she an avid quilter but she enjoyed making afghans, knitting, crocheting, mending (because Mom could do a better job), making ornaments, decorating wedding cakes and much more. Verna was a great cook. There was always fresh baked bread on the sideboard, and cookies in the cookie jar when the kids come looking.

Verna was an amazing, very kind person and the family would like to thank the staff at Tideview Terrace and Dr. Black for taking such wonderful care of her. We lost our dear sister- in-law " Verna" late last Friday. My heart goes out to my brother Alvin, their children, daughter - in - laws and grandchildren. It's been a long sad journey
Tomorrow will be a sad day as they say their final goodbyes.
Although I am unable to be there physically , my heart will be there with all of you.
She provided a good home for the family and yes, she was one of the best cooks in New Tusket.
She certainly took good care of my brother over the years, making sure he had a proper diet once becoming a diabetic.
My daughter's Denise & Suzanne have fond memories of their Aunt Verna.
We will miss her " Welcoming "
Smile and her cheerful laugh when we visited over the years
We will miss her.

We met Verna around 10 years ago when we started going to the New Tusket Baptist Church. Right away we could see that she was a Wonderful Christian Lady. She faithfully attended all the Church functions often bringing a meal or a plate of sweets. She would come to Ladies Auxiliary bringing her needle work which I always admired. She always took part in Ladies Bible Study often having it at her place. I always appreciated her wisdom and spiritual guidance. She once wrote to me a "motherly" letter of encouragement that I will always keep and treasure forever. We know that it is very hard to lose your mom. We pray that you will be comforted, knowing that Verna is in the arms of Jesus now, healthy & whole. Love & Prayers
